Digital signs feature interactive Live Train Maps in industry first

In a first for the UK rail industry, visitors to Carlisle will be able to use a new interactive version of Signalbox’s live train map on digital signs in stations. 

Delivered in collaboration with Avanti West Coast and Kadfire, we’ve created a unique touch-screen version of our real-time rail map that offers an unusual and easy-to-use way for passengers to view trains in real-time.  It’s now on display on Kadfire’s RailPoint digital signs in Carlisle with more stations coming soon across the Avanti network.

This is the latest of several new applications of Signalbox’s train tracking technology. The new tools explore innovative and visually engaging ways to display real-time data and maps to rail passengers, both online, on mobile, and in person.

Travellers can use the new interactive customer information points to view and track train movements near the station in real-time, check the performance of all Avanti services at a glance, or tap on a specific train to view its schedule, platform projections, and live status updates. 

By providing rail passengers with reliable live rail data in a new and engaging format, these interactive digital signs are improving the user experience for passengers in stations. Having rebooted the web version of our live train map to incorporate several new features for online users, it’s great to now see Signalbox appear on interactive signs, too.
