Digital signs feature interactive Live Train Maps in industry first
In a first for the UK rail industry, visitors to Carlisle will be able to use a new interactive version of Signalbox’s live train map on digital signs in stations.
Delivered in collaboration with Avanti West Coast and Kadfire, we’ve created a unique touch-screen version of our real-time rail map that offers an unusual and easy-to-use way for passengers to view trains in real-time. It’s now on display on Kadfire’s RailPoint digital signs in Carlisle with more stations coming soon across the Avanti network.
By providing rail passengers with reliable live rail data in a new and engaging format, these interactive digital signs are improving the user experience for passengers in stations. Having rebooted the web version of our live train map to incorporate several new features for online users, it’s great to now see Signalbox appear on interactive signs, too.
Founder of Signalbox, Toby Webb, said of the project,
“It’s fantastic that rail operators are investing in digital innovation in stations and on trains. By creating useful, engaging displays that augment the information that is traditionally displayed on departure boards, these interactive Railpoint signs enhance travel for customers and begin to bridge the gap between digital and real-life passenger experience.”
If you can’t make it to Carlisle, you can view a version of the map we’ve created for Avanti below. Or head to Signalbox’s own live train map to explore our latest release which includes new search functionality that enables filtering of trains.
